An aspiring Pokemon trainer moves to tiny Littleroot Town and discovers all-new Pokemon to train and compete with -- now he's on the road to being a great trainer!
Amazon.com Product Description
Are you looking for a new Pokemon challenge? With a focus on continuing the story, Pokemon Emerald brings together elements and characters from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Emerald is the third adventure to take place in the Hoenn region, and it features all new areas and exciting new plot twists.

In Pokemon Emerald, your character is an aspiring Pokemon Trainer and new inhabitant of Littleroot Town. You'll enter the neighborhood amid a truckload of boxes, eager to explore your new environment. Eventually, you'll stumble upon a challenge that forces you to select from three Pokemon -- Torchic, Mudkip or Treecko. Once you decide, you can begin your quest to become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer.

If you've played the Ruby or Sapphire installments, you'll recognize many of the locations in Emerald. Although familiar, quite a lot has changed in Emerald. The most exciting addition is Battle Frontier. No matter how well you think you know Hoenn, you will always discover something entirely new. Plus, you may even encounter a new Gym Leader in your journeys.

You are up against stiff competition in Emerald. Team Magma and Team Aqua once again look to disrupt the peaceful civility of Hoenn. Unlike Ruby and Sapphire, both gangs have set up camp in this adventure. That means you'll be facing double-the-evil, double-the-clever, scheming plans. To really spice things up, Emerald has added sightings of the rare Pokemon Rayquaza. The plot thickens!

The Battle Frontier of Pokemon Emerald brings together seven battle facilities. Each area provides a unique battle experience. Special Trainers called Frontier Brains head each facility and they will test every aspect of your combat skills. Your victories will be memorialized in the form of Frontier Symbols, and you must defeat the Frontier Brain at each location several times in order to earn your awards.

With new locations like Battle Dome, Battle Arena, Battle Factory, and Battle Pike, Pokemon Emerald will throw you awesome new twists and challenges. The new adventure in Hoenn is full of adventure and has plenty of opportunities to hone your battle skills. Just keep your composure, explore the island, and you can become the world's greatest Pokemon Trainer.

Pokemon Emerald Review (2009-05-02)
Horrific. Do you guys test your used games at all? It frequently loses its save game and was a waste of money. I work hard for my money and don't appreciate losing it on a product that was obvious on first use didn't work correctly.

Old School Game with a New School Style (2009-04-27)
I looked for a while for a game that could somehow mirror the time I spent into my childhood favorites Pokemon Red and Blue. I looked in systems like Xbox 360, PC games, and hand-held games, and it became apparent that the only way I'll ever recreate the magic I had when I was 7 at 17 was with, once again, Pokemon. But by now, I could no longer pick up the old Pokemon Red or Blue and play. I've played the game so many times and abused the Missing No. glitch too much to get anything new, so I took a risk in a newer Pokemon game. I'm still partial to the original 151 Pokemon, but I was drawn into the game just as quickly as I was for the original, and as a bonus, it's been weeks, and I STILL have so much to do in the game, and I have trouble setting it down. The only negative I can think of is losing some sleep due to playing it a bit too much at night.

My son loves it!! (2009-04-21)
I have to say, my son hasn't been disappointed in any of the Pokemon games yet. Great game.

Pokemon Emerald (2009-03-20)
I love pokemon. Great game. Alot of fun and very addicting. I just wish they would make a game like this for the bigger systems. One that you can actually go and catch pokemon like on the TV show. Until they get smart enough to do that, I will continue to have fun with what they have out.

Pokemon Emerald Version (2009-03-17)
This game is addictive, and it has great replay value. Hours of fun can be expected. Once it is beaten, there is still more to do.

  • Required for DVD functionality on the Xbox
Product Description
The DVD Movie Playback Kit is a quick way to expand the functionality of the best gaming machine around! Xbox requires this kit to enable DVD movie playback. Simply plug in the infrared receiver to a controllerport and use the remote control designed for DVD movie playback. No messy cables or confusing game controllers to deal with!
Amazon.com Review
Got an Xbox? Do you enjoy watching DVDs? Then you need one of these. This DVD playback kit unlocks the DVD functionality of Microsoft's powerful Xbox and helps make the console an even more important addition to your home entertainment deck.

Feeling rather light in hand, this remote features large keys that feel rubbery yet firm. The kit sports some of the basic functions you'd expect from a common controller, including chapter skip, play, pause, and number buttons. There's also handy 32x fast-forward and reverse controls.

Pressing the display button calls up a friendly onscreen menu that allows access to more features, including up to 10x magnification, A-B playback loop (for cueing and viewing favorite scenes repeatedly), and subtitle and audio options. It's worth noting that many lower-cost DVD remotes have access to such features through the press of a button. The fact that this one requires you to use a menu to access such common commands may rankle DVD aficionados, as the menu is a bit slower than using buttons. Still, the menu is quite intuitive and couldn't be much easier to use.

For the remote to work, you'll need to plug the included infrared receiver into an open controller port on the Xbox. Most gamers will never need to unplug the receiver again, as you can plug it into the rarely used fourth port. Interestingly, the receiver works best when the remote is operated almost directly in front of it, and can be a little finicky when signals are sent from the far left or right.

The couch potato crowd won't be thrilled to learn that the remote does not include power or eject buttons. Why such standard features were omitted escapes us, but that is far and away the worst thing we can say about an otherwise decent control. --Mark Brooks

Pros:

  • Though very lightweight, the controller seems sturdily made and the buttons are large and comfy
  • Uses any of the 4 Xbox game controller ports; rarely gets in the way
  • Gives the Xbox cool DVD playback features
  • Onscreen menu is very easy to use
Cons:
  • No power or eject buttons
  • A-B looping, subtitles, and language selects--as well as other features--are only accessible via onscreen menus
  • Cannot use the remote from far to the left or right of the sensor

Amazon.com Product Description
Enables DVD movie playback functionality on the Xbox video game system. Includes a DVD remote control and an infrared receiver that plugs into an Xbox controller port. Note: this item is required for DVD movie playback on Xbox.

An excellent remote for XBMC (2009-04-24)
This remote works very well, and makes the XBMC experience even nicer. I recommend this to anyone using XBMC.

great remote (2009-04-14)
this remote is so useful! its used to watch dvds through the xbox without unplugging everything and then plugging in the dvd player. a life saver!

Excellent Controller (2009-03-03)
Works as advertised. Perfect to give your Xbox or XBMC the ability to use a remote. I just plugged in the IR Receiver and used my Scientific Atlanta (through Brighthouse) universal remote to control all the basic functions. The remote with this kit works fine if you decide to use it.

RIP OFF!!!! (2009-02-26)
I bought this because I don't have a DVD in the living room and I have 2 regular xboxes, so I wanted to have a DVD there as well. The cost on here is 0.01, yet the shipping is $9.99??? THIS IS A RIP OFF!!! This item doesn't have a weight more than 6 ounces and it's not packaged like it's shown. I think it's REDICULOUS how these people try and jip you off, when u can go to GAMESTOP and buy the Playback Kit for $2.99. I won't do that again on here, TRUST ME!!!!!!

Very convenient (2009-02-21)
It enhances the XBMC experience! I would recommend it to anyone looking to set up a media center using the original XBOX. Definitely good buy!

One problem, but after that it was good (2009-04-30)
Right after I got this in the mail, I stuck it in to my Gamecube memory card slot B on my Wii. Then I found out I had to put it in slot A to play my Pokemon Gale of Darkness XD game, so I tried to take it out; other than a tiny movement it wouldn't budge. So I checked online and found out you have to YANK it really hard to get it out.

Though after I put it in slot A it worked fine, so just be sure that you're putting it in the slot you're using just in case it gets stuck. Even if it does, just try really hard to yank it out. The card won't break from that. It's the Nintendo brand card, after all, not a random generic brand.

memory cards (2009-04-05)
It's a memory card and it works. :) I guess that's all that counts right?

Great Product (2009-02-24)
This is a standard memory unit used to store saved gamecube games, it is the prefect size for people who don't have a massive gamecube game libary. It is fully compatable with the use with the nintendo wii

Warning: Will not be able to read Wii saved games, nor will you be able to save wii games to it, it is used to save Nintendo Gamecube savefiles!

Great Deal (2008-09-10)
This is not a Nintendo brand memory card, but is a great memory card. It is a 251 block and has served me well. Don't waste your money on a name brand one, this one will do just fine.

game cube memory card (2008-08-14)
I could not find this around my neighborhood. Now my son can play old game cube games on Wii and save his progress. No more leaving the Wii on for hours. Awesome.

Flash back to the late 90's (2009-04-09)
A great classic made even better. The game is remastered with cool 3d backgrounds, and music with balanced gameplay.
A top notch roaster of fighters to choose from makes this game a must have. Now, lets hope King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited gets a release here
in the U.S.

Great Fighting Game!!! (2009-04-05)
I'm really new to the KOF universe and I have to say that this is a great game! A little background from me. Ok, so as I was growing up, I was mainly exposed to the SF franchise. I played a few Fatal Fury games and Samurai Shodown but not much else. I decided to try KOF recently and was delighted! Sure, I noticed less frame counts. Weak and strong buttons for punch and kick were only available. Sprites could also be improved. Once I adjusted to that, I realized how technical this game can be. No button mashing here!

As far as the game goes, there are several modes. Single, 2P VS, CPU VS, Endless, and Challenge....It's just awesome! You get two games for the price of one. The original NEO GEO classic of KOF 98. No glitches that I noticed. I like the fact that you can choose from Advanced (agressive fighting) or Extra (defensive fighting) at the beginning of the match. There's more. The other game (mode) is Ultimate Match. You can mix up agressive and defensive fighting settings. Again, no glitches. Both games are balanced in terms of fighting. Not only that, you get 64 characters to choose from! The most in any KOF so far.

A fighting game fan will not want to miss this. Even if you already have King of Fighters Orochi Saga, do yourself a favor and get it!

Good Game (2009-04-03)
King of Fighters has always been a game whose technical features rival that of Street Fighter for years. It's unfortunate that people will often just set this game aside due to it's differences (Running, Rolling, Knockback, etc). Anyways, probably the best KOF series to date. Though there are some character balancing issues (especially with bosses), but you wouldn't need to choose them anyways. Worth a buy for any fighting game fan.

King Of Fighters 98 Version 2.0 (2009-03-08)
1998: SNK releases King of Fighters 98: The Slugfest for the Neo*Geo. The 5th game in the series & has been a fan favorite since.

2008: SNK Playmore (successor company to SNK) releases King of Fighters 98: The Ultimate Match for the Taito Type X (arcade hardware). A PS2 version was released months later in Japan.

And now it's finally released in North America. So what's the different between this & the original game (which is in here as well)? They are:

9 new fighters that wasn't in the original game (the KoF 96 boss team, Kasumi, Eiji, Goenitz, Orochi, as well as Iori & Leona in their Riot of the Blood form), meaning that every fighter that appeared in 94 & throughout the Orochi Saga (95-97) are here. There are also new extra versions of King, Blue Mary, Geese, and Ryuji Yamazaki. King is based on her Art of Fighting 2 counterpart while the rest are hybrids of their appearances throughout the Real Bout Fatal Fury series. The returning fighters have been tweaked to give the game more balance with some given new moves.

In terms of game play, Extra & Advance Mode have also been mortified. The former's POW meter has been shorten (but it won't get any shorter when you lose a fighter unlike in the original game.) & it fills up quicker. There's also a new mode: Ultimate Mode which allows you to customize features from both Extra & Advance modes. Also unlike in the original game, any owned stock will be transferred to the next fighter. A big plus as you no longer have to worry about losing some & all your stock when you get K.O.ed.

Also, Omega Rugal's not the only final boss you can go up against. Depending on how well you play, you can also go up against Goenitz (& going up against the KoF 96 Boss Team prior) or Orochi (& fighting the Orochi Team prior).

The PS2 version has lots of choices for the solo gamer (it's still best to play with a friend) from Endless Survival, & Challenge Mode (with 30 different challenges). As previously mentioned, the original King of Fighters 98's in here as well, which I think is based on the AES version as there`s a vs. mode, survivor mode & you could even play as Omega Rugal too! Also there's no real loading & it lacks the audio miscues that exists in the PS2 Orochi Collection version.

I only have two issues with this game. One is the graphics. While the stages are very nice (& there's more of them here than in the original game & you can set them up in 2D or 3D), the sprites look like they haven't been mortified in years, if not over a decade. Nonetheless, this ain't Capcom Fighting Evolution! The other issue is the fact that there are no real endings. Even the intro to Omega Rugal & his ending scene when you beat him in the original game are omitted here.

Despite this, the Ultimate Match takes the original King of Fighters 98 game & makes it even better. In reality, it also makes the recently released King of Fighters Collection- The Orochi Saga somewhat obsolete as you'll getting the best elements of the first 4 games rolled up into this one. Plus, at $20, this is a steal. Add in unlockablies like hidden fighters, artwork, & game play video & you got a game that's a must for fans of the series, or 2-D fighters in general. With this out, & Samurai Shodown Anthologycoming out soon, how about bringing the recently released-in Japan, King of Fighters 2002: Unlimited Match to North America?

In addition to the game, you'll be getting a poster & a bonus CD. It's a data disc, so you'll need a PC to access it. It has wallpapers & a couple of trailers for this game & the upcoming King of Fighters XII.

A great, worthwhile fighter (2009-03-08)
SNK Playmore's stream of budget-priced PS2 games continues with King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match; which finds SNK's most popular franchise adding some new elements to an old, but great, installment of the series. Featuring the largest roster to hit the KOF series, King of Fighters 98 plays as well as just about any other KOF game, and features a deep and surprisingly balanced fighting engine and enough customization options to keep you busy for a while. Graphically the game hasn't aged all that well, but if you're playing King of Fighters 98, pleasing aesthetics aren't your priority. There's a bonus disc included as well, which features wallpapers and trailers of the upcoming King of Fighters XII here as well, all rounding out a nice package. All in all, if you're an old school fighting fan or longtime SNK follower, King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match is plenty enjoyable, and is definitely worth your time.
