HDTVs and BluRay Players

Blu-ray players are designed to work on any television which, whether the TV is high definition capable or not, has component inputs. However, using a Blu-ray DVD player with a HDTV via the HDMI or video inputs will enable you to ensure that you have a full HDTV viewing experience.

Therefore, a television sold as HD Ready, it means the TV does not include a built-in tuner which is capable of receiving an over the air signal via an antenna.

However, because the blu-ray player transmits in high definition then you will receive a HD picture quality regardless of whether the television is HD or HD ready.
